Client

The customer is a leading US-based financial services provider with strong expertise in spend management software designed for minimizing P-card program fraud, providing an audit of purchasing card policy, and managing accounting for purchasing cards.

Challenge

The main challenge was to design from scratch a web-based, behind-the-firewall spend management software solution targeting large and mid-size clients, that would deliver improved performance in the compliance of procure-to-pay and source-to-pay processes. The system automates spend analysis, contract management, procurement, expense management, card management and integration for the client’s spend processes.

The solution needed to deal with a large volume of data integrated with the end-client IT infrastructure; consequently, the system’s performance tuning and scalability were very important issues. An additional challenge was the utilization of the Amazon EC2 cloud platform, which further enabled our engineers to increase the platform’s performance, scalability and usability.

Solution

Possessing strong subject-matter expertise and project management capabilities in-house, our client was looking for a reliable technical partner and strategic vendor with strong expertise in cloud platforms and Java technologies. After unsuccessful experiences dealing with outsourcing providers from India and South America, our client sought a partnership in Eastern Europe, where Ukraine appeared the most promising option due to its strong educational reputation and the variety of local software engineers’ technical skill sets. Our company assembled a dedicated team of highly experienced developers in a short timeframe, allowing our client to get the first version of the completely redesigned platform within the first nine months of the engagement without losing any existing clients during the transition and support of the old platform.
